Felice Torrisi

Felice Torrisi is a Reader in Chemistry of 2D materials and Wearable Electronics in the Department of Chemistry, and the Director of the Centre of Excellence for Processable Electronics at Imperial College. He graduated at the University of Catania, Italy, and then worked as an assistant researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics and Microsystems of the Italian National Research Council. Before moving to Imperial College, he worked in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge as a PhD student, and then as a Schlumberger Research Fellow before holding a Fellowship at Trinity College, Cambridge and a University Lectureship in Graphene Technology. In Cambridge, he jointly managed the Centre for Doctoral Training in Graphene Technology and the Cambridge Graphene Centre. At Imperial, he is the Faculty Champion for Research in Quantitative Technology and the Department Enterprise Champion. He is a member of the Executive Board of the DigiFAB Institute and of the Centre for Processable Electronics. His research interests span from printed and flexible electronics to photonics with graphene and 2D materials, with particular focus on energy, sensing, wearable electronics and bioelectronics. He is the recipient of the 2024 Harrison-Meldola Early Career Research Prize by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the 2022 ICAN-X Yourng Reseacher Finalist award. His research interests cover graphene and related two-dimensional materials for flexible electronics and photonics, with particular focus on energy, sensing, wearable electronics and bioelectronics. He co-autored more than 90 publications, receiving > 13000 citations, and is the co-founder of three start-ups in the area of graphene, printed electronics and electronic textiles.
